Bio
Hi, my name is Aleyna and I am currently a second year student at Stony Brook University. I am a Biology major and a Studio in Art minor. Art has always been a passion of mine ever since I was little, I grew from doodling, drawing, painting to experimenting with different materials. My first piece, “Broken Glass,” was a self portrait that was made with acrylic paint. I liked the brightness of each color and how they all came together, however I noticed it was missing something. That is why I decided to add the sand glass over it, I think it showcases a bigger meaning of the portrait. The second piece, “Recovered,” was completed with old and broken CDs. I liked the idea I could recover something that wasn’t being used anymore to turn it into art. The last piece, “Shaded,” was created with charcoal where I tried to make the contrast and brightness the key aspect of the artwork. These are some of the many pieces I’ve done in the past years. I personally like to mix things up when I make art, this way it becomes more fun for me to do. I also enjoy the peace it brings me and the state of mind I go into when creating art, that is why I will always see art as a part of me.
